I Remember
Author's Note
I Remember is a journey back in time to a place and time that is no more... a
journey back to the days in which I grew up... perhaps even to the days in which
you grew up. It matters not the time or the place... Growing up' is timeless and
universal.
There were common feelings, experiences, and problems that we all
encountered. We remember the love, safety, and security of home, of believing
that our daddy was the most special man in the world, and our mom was the
prettiest lady, and the fact that our grandparents were always ready to say "yes,"
when Mom and Dad said "no."
We remember the trauma of having to leave the security of home and go to
school for the first time... of moving out into the real world, exploring it a little at a
time, and eventually finding our place in it... We remember having a best friend
with whom we shared everything from our toys and our time, to the deepest
secrets of our hearts... We remember falling in love for the first time, and
experiencing the hurt and emptiness of learning that person didn't love us back...
at least not enough. These memories, along with many others, are all a part of my
'growing up.'
I invite you to come join me on this journey through the years of my
'growing up,' and in doing so, allow my memories to remind you of and 'touch off'
the memories of your own growing up years. While that time or those special
people may be no more, they will always remain. They will always live on and we
can visit them any time we choose... all we have to do is remember.
Come join me in these memories.
